  • Summer Happening!

    Medley Kafao

Urban Art & Summer Vibes!  Our summer event took place on a mellow Thursday afternoon, on 22nd July.  We had the revelation of our new image of urban art just outside Medley, as well as our new summer arrivals along with our familiar artpieces and handcrafts and it was all accompanied with cool drinks and appetizers and best of all, great friends and visitors! Katerina Moraitou Markianou chose to decorate the telephone cable box with two hoopoes, a colourful bird that's been appearing in Athens since ancient times. She was inspired by ancient greek art, the Acropolis and its museum, the Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum collection and also the public school and playground across the road. All are landmarks around where Medley is situated!

  • We welcome Diane Alexandre to Medley!

We welcome Diane Alexandre to Medley!

French born artist, Diane has studied modern literature, graphic design, art history and communication in Paris, and has worked in the fields of brand identity design and illustration for advertising agencies as well as luxury brands for the past 15 years.

For the past five  years, she has been living in between Paris and Athens and developed a more personal creation. Immersed in Greek mythology from a very young age, she is particularly inspired by the totemic representations of gods and archetypes, the power they transmit and their close relationship with Nature. Inherited unconsciously from various archaic cults from pre Mesopotamian to Sumerian to Egyptian to Cycladic, her idols are a meditative offering, to people, moments shared, instants of comprehension or love.

Her media are earthenware and stoneware clays and porcelain.

  • Our first hands-on marbling workshop!

    Our first hands-on marbling workshop!
Our first marbling workshop with expert collage artist Natalie Pisante was a great experience for our five participants and the success could be seen in the resulting colourful and unique prints that they produced! With every necessary precaution taken, using masks, anticeptic and limiting the number of people present, we enjoyed a creative morning, learning the art of mixing colours and design on the water surface in order to print spontaneous and fantastical compositions! The 'students' learned the procedure and gave it a try... They found out that practice makes marvels on paper! The next step is to experiment on other surfaces and to develop their creativity in products such as wrapping paper, small notebooks, collage art works, decorative ceramics and lots more!

    To be continued!
